В Амстердаме была продана на аукционе картина “ВЕНЕЦИЯ” очень напоминающая работы Ван Гога. Есть предположение, что Ван Гог скопировал этот стиль в своих поздних работах.
VENEZIA,
PRINT OF LARGE XIX C. IMPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING SIGNED EW
This painting is a puzzle, since it either precedes later Vincent van Gogh style , or it’s contemporary to it. The oil painting was sold at the Amsterdam Art Auction in the 1970s.
We know that Theo, his brother, was traveling to Paris, and sent hundreds of art postcards home. Vincent adopted many of the postcards styles . A well-known example is the medieval Japanese painting style, which Vincent adopted, and produced over a dozen paintings on Japanese themes.
The oil is signed EW. It’s well-known that Vincent van Gogh loved and appreciated Emil Waters’ works.
